A Real Christmas for Children

Christmas at the Children's Hospital

Picture

Here are some of the over 100 children who came to the hospital for our special Christmas presentation. All of these children have epilepsy and are outpatients at the hospital. Due to the weather that day we were held up in traffic and these adorable little faces were waiting for us when we finally arrived. Each one was held spellbound as the cast of characters entered and they learned the true meaning of Christmas. Afterward each child received treats along with a Christmas gospel tract.

Christmas at the Orphanage

Bro. Todd and Susan with the cast of the Christmas play before our presentation at the village orphanage. Susan (who made the costumes) provided the music as each character was introduced by Bro. Todd who also delivered a short message on the real meaning of Christmas.

Sergei and Alex, our taxi drivers, played the parts of a King and Joseph respectively. Ura, Natasha's brother, also pitched in and assumed the role of a shepherd. We all had as much fun as the kids did. Each child who saw the presentation received some treats and a gospel tract.

Kid's Day Event

Our "Gang"

Our "GANG." Here are most of the kids who showed up for the Special Activity Event on Saturday March 24th. Everyone who came had a great time.

Potato Race

Picture

The teams had to run with a potato on a spoon. If the potato fell off the spoon (and it did many times) they had to go back to the start and try again.

Here is Maxim taking his turn during the potato relay race.

Pass the Clothespin

Picture

Here the children passed clothespins over their heads to the person behind them. The last person in line had to run to the front and start the process all over again. If a clothespin fell on the floor it had to stay there. Each team started with 25 clothespins and each team had 11 left at the end of the game, it was a tie.

We wondered if the little girl in the middle was getting any clothespins. As you can see from the second picture they went "right over her head."

Too Little to Participate

Picture

Susan and Anna, a little four-year old girl, who came out with her older sister to our Saturday Special Event. She was too small to participate in the games but she had fun watching the other kids.

Bottle Race

Picture Picture

Here are some of the kids during the bottle race. Each child had to push an empty plastic pop bottle across the floor with a stick. The stick had to stay on the bottle at all times. If you think this is easy, try it!! These kids went all over the gym with those bottles before they crossed the finish line. They had so much fun we had a second race. Each team won one race.

The Little Girl Nobody Loved

Picture

Alexandra, better known as Sasha, is only 10 years old. She has no parents and lives with her grandparents and 8 year-old sister. Nobody in the village likes Sasha because of her background. We rescued Sasha one night outside the church from some bullies. She has been coming to Junior Church regularly since. She is the sweetest little girl and we have been able to show her the love she so desperately craves. She faithfully brings in her JW books to Mrs. Susan in exchange for good Bible storybooks.

Happiness is the Lord!!!

Here are some of the forty kids who attended our Special Activity Event on Saturday March 24th. These kids love to sing and are they ever LOUD!!! Praise the Lord for these future Choir members.

Prizes for Everyone

All the children who came and participated in our Special Activity Event received a book with Bible stories, a Scripture verse bookmarker and an invitation to attend our regular Junior Church meetings on Wednesday evenings.

End of Summer Picnic 2002

Just before school started, we took our Kid's Club to the local playground and had a time of relay races, games, food and fellowship with them. Twenty-two kids came out and had a great time.

Here the kids are filling spoons with beans from the bucket, at one end of the field, and pouring them into a small container, at the other end. The team with the most beans in the container after the buckets were empty was the winner. Stasik, age 7 (in green shirt), never had any beans left on his spoon by the time he reached the container but "emptied" his spoon anyway. That's teamwork!!

Using paper cups each Bucket Brigade had to empty one 5-liter jug at the beginning of the line and fill the other jug at the end of the line. Despite some wet clothes and shoes along the way it turned out to be a tie.

In Reaping and Sowing the first person in line (the reaper) must run and pick up the beanbags and bring them back to his team. The next person in line (the sower) runs down and replaces the beanbags in "the field." On and on it goes until each player in line has finished the course. The team finishing first wins.

Follow in my Footsteps consists of two players from each team working together. The first does the walking and the second lays down footsteps for him to walk on. He cannot move unless he steps on a "foot." When the team reaches the goal line they run back and the second player now does the walking while the third in line lays down the footsteps for him. The first team to finish wins.

Susan lined up the kids under the pretext of having a group photo taken, and did, then sprayed them with silly string. At first they didn't know what to expect since they had never seen silly string before. Then they wanted to be sprayed again.

After the cleaned up the mess they all got Frisbees for participating in the games and went crazy while the picnic was being prepared.

A small meal, a short time of rest and they were ready for a game of soccer with Sasha.

Sasha, Saul, and Stas have all accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour. (Not present but also saved are Dennis and Ivan.) Please pray that the kids will be faithful during the school year to come out to Kid's Club and that many more will trust Christ this year.

Soccer Teams

In the summer of 2002 we started a soccer club as a way to reach some young men for Christ. Beginning with the boys from our Saturday Kid's Club we picked up some neighborhood kids as summer progressed. Most of the kids leave for the villages and their grandparent's farms during the summer recess but for those who stayed in town they had a great time playing soccer every Monday afternoon. A lot of the boys that got saved at Kid's Club are learning how to witness to others.
