DEAR FRIENDS AND SUPPORTERS,

A Number of People Saved

Praise the Lord that we have seen several saved in both the village church and here in town. Dennis, a 19 year-old economics major, got saved the first service he attended. He came to learn English and got more than he had planned on. He has been faithful and will be working with us this summer handing out tracts. Another young man named Igor was saved out of the Orthodox Church recently and has been eagerly learning about the Bible. I had to deal with him extensively about Mary worship as it was deeply indoctrinated in him. But during a recent meal, after the prayer, he stopped himself from making the sign of the cross. Praise the Lord again! Andrew, the other taxi driver who takes us to the village each week, came to our house one night and also was wonderfully saved and is now attending services

Two eleven-year old girls from our village church were saved. Elena, who has faithfully attended Junior Church, expressed a fear of dying and going to hell. She asked Susan to help her and she was led to the Lord. Ula came up to Susan and told her she thought she needed Jesus in her heart. Praise the Lord she got saved too! On May 27th, the mother of one of our Bible students, who comes to church whenever she visits her daughter Helen, accepted the Lord as her Saviour. Susan led Helen to the Lord in May of 1999 so it was a real blessing for her to lead Helen's mother to the Lord also. We also had a mother and daughter from the village trust Christ recently.

Sasha, one of our preacher boys, led Dema his twelve year-old nephew to Christ on a Wednesday night after church service. Dema's father is a drunk and his mother is a drug addict. Dema normally hates to read. However, since getting saved he has literally continued to read anything and everything dealing with God that he can get his hands on. What a blessing!

Freedom to Preach

The Lord has opened the door for us to rent a place for church on the third floor of an office building, on a very busy main street. We are the only occupants on Sunday. Praise the Lord for the opportunity He has given us. I made a new altar for the people to use. I believe that old fashioned preaching and the use of the altar is important. Susan also made cushions for the chairs and curtains for the windows. We now have a room for the Junior Church kids, too. The Lord has been good and this is the first meeting place that we have been able to have with this kind of freedom. Pray now that the Lord will continue to bring the people in.

Seeds

So far we have printed and handed out over 90,000 tracts this year alone bringing our grand total to around 580,000 gospel tracts given out in two years. Praise the Lord! We continue to see letters in the mail from those who have responded to our soul-winning effort. We would like to thank all our supporters who give generously and unselfishly so we can continue to purchase paper and supplies for this part of our ministry.

Something for the Ladies

Susan met with several of the ladies from both churches on May 5th for another time of Bible study and fellowship. Fourteen women attended including Sasha's landlady who he has been witnessing to for several weeks.

The Bible and Science

Recently I had the opportunity to speak to a science class at a high school. Approximately seventy-five kids heard me speak on giants in history and in the Bible. Through the use of visual aids and a tape measure I was able to make the lecture interesting and understandable for the kids. Please pray that we will have more opportunities this fall to present some lectures dealing with the Bible, science and evolution, with the end result of seeing souls saved.

Bible Institute

May 14th brought the end to our Bible Institute for this semester. Institute will resume, Lord willing, in September at the new church building where we will have more room for classes. Just before the semester ended, Nicoli, a young man from the village church joined our team. We praise the Lord for an answer to prayer for more men to help in the ministry.

A Changing of the Guard

Natasha, who worked as our translator for several months, is no longer with us. She is still coming out to church and helping Susan with her ladies meetings. The Lord has graciously provided another young man for us named Dennis. He is twenty-three years old and unsaved. Please pray that the Lord will speak to his heart soon and that he will get saved.

Booze in the Lord's Supper

Recently I taught on the meaning and significance of the Lord's Supper. Over here, even in the Baptist churches, they use alcoholic wine and leavened bread. So it is vitally important that the people understand the true meaning of the elements. Christ was NOT a sinner therefore leavened bread or booze should NOT be used. Amen!

Prayer Requests

Please pray for the salvation of Dennis our translator and for Alex, another one of our taxi driver friends.

Pray that we will see many saved this summer as we hit the streets with gospel tracts and literature.

For an open door for evangelistic meetings this summer and for large auditoriums to rent for special lectures this fall.

Sincerely in Christ,
Dr. Michael and Susan Todd
