Dear Praying Friends: November-December, 2002 Salvations One of our loyal members, a woman named Katia, who comes to church despite unbelievable opposition from her family, has brought yet another soul to the Lord. Olga is the third friend that Katia has invited to come to church who has trusted the Lord as her Saviour. Katia's own son has threatened to kill her for coming to church, yet she comes to each service with a smile on her face and a big hug for Susan. Three other women, Luba, Luda, Lubov, were also saved during the month of November. All four are currently attending discipleship classes. Discipleship In September before we left for the states I instituted a discipleship program for the new converts that have been coming to church in the village. Sasha has reported that 8 people have successfully completed the program and 23 are still coming and will graduate soon. We thank the Lord for the faithfulness of our people. Hidden Treasure Sasha has translated another 5 hymns into Russian including "I Want that Mountain" and "Heaven Came Down." He reports that he is working on "In the Service of the King" now. That makes a total of 26 hymns that he has translated from the English. These are the good old-fashioned revival and camp-meeting hymns. God has really blessed Sasha with a gift that none of us ever imagined as he is not musically inclined, but those hymns get into his heart and he is able to translate them into Russian. What a blessing! Your Prayers Are Important While driving to a meeting in Kentucky one Wednesday night we experienced brake failure after coming down off a dangerous narrow winding mountain road. Our left rear brake locked up on us as we were heading for the church. The pastor was kind enough to help with the expense of the repair and took care of room and board for us while the van was in the shop. Here was a "little" church in the mountains of Kentucky with a BIG heart for missions. Once again the Lord spared us from injury and death. We would appreciate your continued prayers as we travel during furlough. We thank God for each and every one of you that has a burden for our mission field of Ukraine and has a desire to be a part of this ministry. We also thank God for 5 new churches that have taken us on for some much needed support. Sincerely in Christ |
