Back On U.S. Soil

We returned to the states the end of September to raise more support for the work in Ukraine. This is the first furlough I have had since going to the mission field six years ago. This will NOT be a vacation for us. I have 114 back-to-back meetings booked up and we will be on the road for several months. Please pray that the Lord will provide not only the support we need but also housing for us and protection as we travel. We would like to get back to the field as soon as possible as that is where our work is and that is where our hearts are.

Cops Try To Arrest Sasha

Two weeks before leaving Ukraine we were informed that the local police wanted to question Sasha about a fight which left one man in critical condition in the hospital. When they were told that he had an alibi with witnesses for the time in question they then wanted to talk to him about a possible drug situation. The lady at the Cultural House laughed at them and said he was too straight for drugs. We contacted a "friend of a friend" who was in the Secret Service and found out that the Jehovah's Witnesses had paid off some crooked cops to put Sasha in jail for 5 to 10 years. Why? Because the Jehovah's Witnesses claim the village belongs to them and they don't want us there. The policemen were told not bother Sasha again.

Soldiers For Christ

Susan recently taught on the monarch butterfly and she finished the butterfly series with a comparison of the butterfly to a saved man and a lost man. Before the last lesson one of her "Soldiers for Christ" informed her that a 16 year old boy named Vova wanted to get saved that day. After class Vova did trust Christ as his Saviour. Praise the Lord!

Sasha is currently helping to disciple several boys who have gotten saved as a result of the Kid's Club ministry. Please pray that these kids will be faithful to the special class we have just for them on Sunday afternoons and that they will continue to witness to their friends.

Luda Just Can't Keep Silent

After one Sunday morning service one woman indicated a desire to get saved. When presented with the plan of salvation Natalya already knew all the verses by memory! When she said she was a friend of Luda we understood why. She knew and understood her condition as a sinner and her need for a Saviour. She bowed her head and trusted Jesus Christ.

Fall is Harvest Time

Since we have been gone our churches have seen 4 more people get saved. One man named Anatoly got saved after his second visit. He was invited by one of our ladies and lives in the next village. Also another elderly lady who has been coming for several months finally recognized her need for salvation. Two young boys (ages 13 and 14) from Kid's Club in town trusted Christ and have been faithfully attending Soldiers for Christ classes.

Susan Bags Six-Point Deer With 3.8 Engine

While returning from an evening meeting in Rome, New York, on the back roads out of town, my wife hit a deer. Neither one of us was seriously injured (except the deer which flew twenty feet into the air). The car was totaled but the Lord provided the opportunity for us to get another vehicle within a couple of days. We thank the Lord for Pastor Jeff Carpenter and his church for their help and hospitality during our recent "hunting accident."

Many things about this accident were miraculous. The airbags both deployed but neither one of us sustained cuts or bruises to our faces even though we were both wearing glasses. The deer did NOT come through the windshield after being hit. A car coming toward us at the time of impact (which stopped to help) said if we had swerved to avoid the deer we would have hit them head-on more than likely killing them. The Lord was indeed good.
